tribution. More important, however, the possible existence of correlation among data was not addressed. It is generally known that correlation among data would seriously affect the results of analysis of variance. Therefore, it may be more appropriate to use a time series of analysis technique rather than the analysis of variance method. From the computational formula of the 95% confidence limi...
متن کاملVariable diastolic rumbling murmur caused by floating left atrial thrombus.
A 53 year old man with a history of rheumatic mitral stenosis was admitted to hospital because of recurrent fainting spells. Auscultation showed a variable diastolic rumbling murmur. Simultaneous echo- and phonocardiograms demonstrated a floating left atrial thrombus; when this passed into the left ventricular inflow tract and obstructed the mitral valve orifice the diastolic murmur disappeared.
متن کاملFunctional diastolic murmur in 2:1 A-V block.
ONTRARY to the opinion of older clinicians diastolic murmurs are not always organic. This is demonstrated especially by the experiences we made with amplifier auscultation.2) Such non-organic murmurs may be produced by annular incompetence of a valve or by increased blood flow across a normal valve. The murmurs generated by such mechanisms in this report will be designated as " functional " to ...
متن کاملCASE REPORTS The Genesis of the Diastolic Murmur of Complete Heart Block Phono-Echocardiographic Observations
A 72-year-old man with calcific aortic stenosis and complete heart block was noted to have an intermittent diastolic murmur. Using combined echocardiography and phonocardiography, it was demonstrated that the murmur occurred while the mitral valve was closing. This suggested that antegrade flow across a closing mitral orifice is of etiologic importance in the production of the murmur. Atrial so...
